چکیده

AbstractIntroduction Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) may present impaired functional capacity due to peripheral muscle involvement. Oxidative stress and inflammation are probably involved in this pathophysiology. This study aimed evaluate the association between biomarkers of oxidative as well patients under hemodialysis therapy. Method Cross-sectional including 41 from a single center. Functional was assessed through 6-min walk test (6MWT). The blood were: malondialdehyde (MDA) (oxidative stress, TBARS method) angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) (inflammation, ELISA). influence gender on impairment further explored. Results There an inversely proportional correlation 6MWD MDA (r = -,322 p 0.040) Ang-2 -, 376 0.016) values. 370.9 ± 101.2 m 391.4 108.2 women men, respectively (p < 0.001), which means 29.3% 34.3% reduction expected values for healthy individuals same age range. Conclusion CKD hemodialysis, regardless gender, presented performance 6MWT associated inflammation.

[Association between body fat, inflammation and oxidative stress in hemodialysis].

INTRODUCTION The presence of malnutrition has been associated with inflammation and oxidative stress (OS) in patients on chronic hemodialysis (HD). OBJECTIVE To assess the association between nutritional status markers, such as body fat (BF), markers of inflammation and of OS in patients on HD. METHODS Cross-sectional study performed with 40 patients on HD. The nutritional status was evalua...

Paricalcitol reduces oxidative stress and inflammation in hemodialysis patients

BACKGROUND Treatment with selective vitamin D receptor activators such as paricalcitol have been shown to exert an anti-inflammatory effect in patients on hemodialysis, in addition to their action on mineral metabolism and independently of parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. The objective of this study was to evaluate the additional antioxidant capacity of paricalcitol in a clinical setting. ME...

The Relationship between Inflammation, Oxidative Stress, and Metabolic Risk Factors in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

Abstract Objective: Globally, 3-5.2 percent of people suffer from diabetes which is one of the most serious metabolic disorders resulting in an increase in inflammatory biomarkers e.g. interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and C-reactive protein. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between inflammation, oxidative stress and fasting blood glucose, lipid profile and a...

Correlation between Oxidative Stress and Type Ii Diabetic Patients

Fifty type II diabetic patients (non insulin dependant diabetes mellitus) and 50 healthy individuals (without diabetes) were included in this randomized study. None of the patients studied had any diabetic complications. The levels of serum malondialdehyde (MDA) from type II diabetic patients was 5.33 ± 1.46 nmol/ml as compared to control (2.74 ± 0.4 nmol/ml). There was agedependent increase in...
